Mel has 5+ years startup experience (operations, go-to market, scaling, product management) and has worked with numerous early-stage companies. Prior to her time with tafi, Mel was a Venture Capital Fellow at MATTER Chicago. She was previously a VC Associate at Cornerstone Angels and a teaching assistant for the University of Chicago Booth School of Business Entrepreneurial Finance and Private Equity program. Mel is a lab-trained neuroscientist and holds a Bachelor of Science from Loyola University of Chicago.
Kevin is a 13-year veteran of the healthcare IT industry. Kevin ran 15 Blue Chip initiatives with 35 clients such as Cerner, McKesson, USC/Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Northwestern Medicine, and Advocate Healthcare. Under his leadership, he improved clinical quality and grew his client revenue with EMR software and analytic-driven solutions. He was awarded Northwestern University Medicine’s 2009 Best Partner in Patient Care for work done in Enterprise Data Warehousing and Emergency Medicine. Kevin holds a Bachelor of Science from Michigan State University.
Denis started out as an instructor pilot in the Air Force, where he honed the ability to execute under pressure on a daily basis. Ready for the next challenge, he dove into healthcare as a neurophysiologist and coordinated with operating room staff for 8 years to keep patients safe. After seeing broader opportunities to improve healthcare, he earned an MBA at Chicago Booth and joined tafi, where he has a hand in sales, marketing, and overall ops.
Tu is committed to bringing healthcare technologies into the 21st century. Before tafi, Tu has led multiple initiatives within the infrastructure automation team at Optum, taking ideas from the point of conception to department-wide adoption. In addition, his experience in helping build a local student-run free clinic gave him first-hand insight on opportunities to improve healthcare interoperability. Tu holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Irvine.
Jeremy has over 20 years of experience in the information technology, software development, and healthcare industries. Before tafi, Jeremy has architected, designed, and helped build data platforms for weather prediction, financial projection, document processing, and claim processing among others. Jeremy holds a Bachelor of Science from Centre College and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Kentucky.
Frank started his career in the healthcare software industry while working on his first MS in Computer Science. He went on to further his education with an MS in Data Science as well as certifications from several institutions including CompTIA, NextGen, and HL7. Shortly after starting in the EHR industry, he learned about medical interfacing standards and has since developed interfaces for some of the largest intuitions in the industry including Pfizer, NextGen, Cerner, Epic, Meditech, and AllScripts as well as a number of hospital networks including Community Health Systems and St. Joseph Health.
